Choyel: Dark Temptation.

The Dreams became worse.  Choyel could hear the harsh voice calling to her from the abyss of her sleeping mind.  The voice whispered of secrets and power that could be hers if she but chose to swear loyalty to the voice.  Choyel saw in the vastness of her dreams the wastelands of Korriban, the monuments of a dead Empire and the chants of dark champions.  She woke up as she saw a temple opening, or was it...a tomb?

Master Fisto called out to her, and in her sleep it almost sounded as if he were in the Temple structure, but she opened her eyes, awake and facing another calm, bright day on Coruscant.

Choyel got up and went about refreshing before starting the day in meditation.  Master Fisto took her down to the Jedi gardens to help her with meditative health as well as her physical being.

"You look a little troubled, padawan" Kit tilted his head gently, reading concern on her face.  But Choyel was a little embarrassed to say she was troubled by some silly dream.  She stayed silent and continued to meditate.  Though she would rather be off on some adventure, the calm air around them in the garden helped her focus and not feel anxiety from the dream.

They day went on after her morning exercises, and Choyel had a little more spring in her step.  The war was quiet on Coruscant.  The Council actively watched and gave reports to the Chancellor, and Generals like Kenobi kept the Jedi updated on various fronts.  But all was serene on the Capital world for now.

Choyel went to lunch with other padawans, enjoying good company.....

The voice returned, this time while she was awake.  She felt it pulling her away from her lunch table!

"Young Jedi, You must come to me!  I am trapped!  You must.....help me!"  Choyel rubbed her forehead, unable to shake the voice.  She walked quickly down a hallway out of sight of others.  She could feel a pulse in the Force pulling her into a direction through the Temple

She thought of going to Master Fisto, but how can she explain this?  A voice from nowhere was pulling her down into the lower levels of the Temple.  She went down lifts and stairs, and into deeper places.  She went down twisting and winding hallways.  She finally came to an ancient door in a far off place down in the lowest level past old pipes and boiler rooms and rusty droids maintaining the cleanliness of the Temple above.  The old droids shuffled around her, giving suspicious looks.  Choyel shrugged.  These bots must have been down here keeping the sanitation of the Temple for decades, maybe even centuries!

She stared at the ancient door as the voice urged her to go on.

"You can do it!" The voice became more excited "Ultimate knowledge can be yours!"

Choyel stopped and looked around "I'm not sure I want ultimate knowledge....I just want to do my best..."

The voice urged her down deeper into the depths "Free me, Jedi, and I can make your life's goals a success."

She felt a fear in her heart, but also a deep curiosity for knowledge the voice promised.  Choyel concentrated, and focused on the ancient door.  It creaked open ever so slowly as she used the Force.  The door finally gave way very fast and revealed a sight that took her breath away!

A staircase past the door went down into a chasm, a vast space under the Jedi Temple.  In the chasm was a structure that looked like a second Temple, one of ever more ancient years.  Choyel walked down the stairs into the open area.  She could tell the old Temple of the underworld was many tens of thousands of years old, and the air was fresh but cold down here.

An ancient humming buzzed, like the sound of soothing generators that gave power to worn out lights in the chasm.  She walked to the Temple.  It was much smaller than the Jedi Temple, ornate with horrible pillars that displayed monsters of a long dead era, and Choyel felt a chill down her spine, the darkness pulsated around the old lights as she walked to the Temple.  A special altar was in the center, holding a small Holocron.  She marveled at its blood red glow.

"Concentrate on the holocron" the voice whispered "I have been trapped here for so long, and the silence is maddening!!  Please, young Jedi......focus on the holocron so that it will open, and I may be freed at last!"

"But....I sense darkness within!" Choyel backed away.

"COME CLOSER!  I COMMAND YOU!!"  The voice became angry and vicious.  Choyel pulled out her light saber and held it at the crystal.

"Who are you really?" She asked.

Master Kit Fisto answered from behind, putting a hand on her shoulder "It is an evil Force, trapped here long ago.  And it will stay trapped here, once I seal off this old Sith chamber!"  She realized that her Master was truly wise to know something was bothering her.  He followed her to find the answers she could not fully give.

"Sith Chamber!?" Choyel gasped.

The voice in the Holocron roared with a curse at the bad timing of the Jedi Master.  The Holocron started to erupt with lightning, electric power bursting forth.  The image of a Sith lord in robes of white appeared.  "My name is from ages ago, so you would not recognize it, but I will show you two FOOLS that no one can deny my power!  Power that has NOT FADED WITH TIME!!!"

The figure was not a hologram, but not fully physical.  Almost a half ghost, the Sith Lord blasted Kit with lightning and knocked him on the ground.

"Master!!" Choyel cried out.  The Sith turned to her "It is okay, child.  I am not at full strength.  I only wish to escape my prison!  It is unfortunate, however...." he walked towards Kit with hands outstretched "That I must drain this Jedi of his life force so that I may live!" The shadowy figure blasted Kit again with lightning, causing him agonizing pain.

"NO!  I won't let you hurt him!"  Choyel jumped at him.  The Sith Lord was fast, though, and they started to clash with light sabers

"Choyel!!  Get away from here!  Warn the council!" Kit tried to help, but was too weak.

The Sith was strong but was not at full strength, and could not completely stop Choyel's nimble attacks.

"Foolish girl!  I will not be vanquished by a child!"

Choyel jumped over him and landed.  In a swift move, she impaled him with her saber and pulled away from him dramatically "I am no ordinary child.  I am a Jedi, trained by a great Master!  You are beaten!"

The shadowy Sith raged a yell and used the Force to throw her against a wall "Power and riches could have been yours, but I will reward you with DEATH!"  The Sith tries to blast her with lightning, but he realizes he is still too weak.  Choyel stands up slowly, holding her arm in pain.

"The Holocron!  Destroy the holocron!" Kit shouted "He is still to weak to escape it!"

Choyel did not hesitate, throwing her light saber at the Sith holocron.  The impact shattered the ancient device, its power dispersed and shards sprinkled everywhere.  The Sith Lord's Life Force screamed and burst into flames.  The robed figure was vaporized in seconds from the attack.

All was silent for a few minutes as Choyel looked down at the Sith altar and the holocron pieces.  "Forgive me, Master.  I was tempted.  I wanted knowledge....and excitement.  I just wanted a little adventure.  I know now that such things lead to a Jedi's ruin."

She helped up Kit Fisto, who smiled at her "You learned a valuable lesson, Choyel, so I think today's experience is a fair exchange.  A little adventure never hurts, but we must temper our desire for excitement with wisdom.  i think you gained some wisdom, and I find that to be good"  He hugged her as they slowly made their way up to the Jedi Temple.

Choyel, now a wiser padawan, looked forward to meditations in the morning.  She'd had a taste of adventure, and found it to be quite enough.  For now.
